I put two scenarios; you can choose which one you like better. Ones with them all together and ones where they are separate.

1. MacKay and Ryan wanted to meet up since a few of them had free time in their schedules. They decided they should all meet up at a nice restaurant and then go back to Ryan's place after. They both arrived at the restaurant and sat down at their table.

2. MacKay had been writing all day. Although she was very into what she was writing, she knew she needed a break and needed to socialize. She headed out to a nearby bar.
 
Ryan had a long day at work. He went home, showered and sat on the couch watching classic, old movies.
